Mad Oracle Aluza is the first major boss checkpoint in Dead Weight's full campaign — the Mad Oracle who kidnapped Berry and guards the volcanic island objective. Demo players know her from the prologue finale; the full game expands the fight with more adds, self-damage summoning mechanics, and mandatory prep from New Dawn hub services. Into Indie Games published Part 2 of their walkthrough on July 19, 2026, and PixelNitro's launch-week combat guide confirms the core insight: you fight Aluza's mechanics, not her raw health pool.
Dead Weight procedural generation randomizes island positions — this guide covers tactics that work across seeds, not copied coordinates. Complete the Lighthouse unlock and hub prep before accepting the volcanic island marker.
Pre-Fight Checklist
- One mercenary minimum — splits enemy aggro between two grid characters. Two mercenaries if gold allows; one is sufficient per Into Indie Games.
- Full HP with bandages — enter at maximum health; no reason to save consumables for a harder fight that ends the run.
- Blessed Shirt equipped — +1 HP drop from southern goblin island fights during the hub arc.
- Strong Body + Vitality — skill picks that stabilize Arn through add waves.
- Explosive Fury ready — burst damage when Aluza or adds cluster after a safe reposition turn.
Resetting a Bad Attempt
If the fight feels unwinnable mid-battle, Into Indie Games documents a save-scum reset: close the game (Alt+F4), reload your save — you respawn outside the volcanic island before pressing Land. Re-prepare mercenaries, HP, and skills, then re-enter. This is launch-week community practice, not an official feature — use at your own discretion.
Phase-by-Phase Tactics
Aluza opens with four enemies and summons a fifth. Adds include Corruptor Sniper and Corrupted Hunter — push the sniper into the Abyss first, then reposition both characters outside all attack ranges before ending each turn.
- Aluza self-damage — every resurrection or ritual costs her 1 HP. Let her summon; do not rush her health bar early.
- Avoid damage first — step out of enemy ranges every turn. AoE attacks often hit other enemies — let friendly fire do work.
- Sleep mechanics — Aluza's attacks can put Corrupted Hunter to sleep, removing one threat for free.
- Below half HP — move toward Aluza; enemy AoE may damage her. Push her into Bleed traps for extra damage (-2 HP confirmed in Into Indie Games Part 2).
- Force teleport — at 1 HP Aluza can swap positions with your character. Stay close enough to deliver the killing blow even if surrounded.
After Victory
Defeating Aluza triggers dialogue, an Abyss push cutscene, conversation with Berry, and descent into the Abyss to meet Virilis. You unlock the Madness system and gain access to the Temple in New Dawn — see the hub guide. Universal boss fundamentals live on the bosses page.
